Social Networking

November 01, 2007 by Karrie

I met with our Teen Advisory Board this evening and we began an interesting discussion on social networking.  The library, as some of you know, has a myspace page that we are still working on.  But a lot of teens say they don't have myspace pages and instead use things like: you tube, friendster or steam .  There are tons of social networks out there (places to meet friends online).  Which ones do you use?

I represent Steam. Steam is a great system for file sharing and game playing. I have used Steam for many years and have been suprised by how easy it is to use. It is very simple and if anyone (at the library)has questions. They can ask me and I can help. If you are interested in steam I will post the link. (It does require a quick download & install) It didnt bother my computer at all. So if your interested ask me.

I think it would be cool to have a coffee house at the library! Kind of like Barnes & Nobel!

Well Kyle, your questions has absolutely nothing to do with the current posting, but as a Librarian, I am happy to help you with your problem.
What to do when you lose your library card... first clean your room. Not only will your mom like this, but chances are you will find many other things you thought you lost. If that doesn't work... go into your local library, tell them you've lost your card and you would like a new one. This does cost 50 cents, so be ready for that expense. Who knows, maybe your mom will be so happy with your clean room, that she will spring for the new card! Hope this helps!

As one of the people working on creating the Library's MySpace page www.myspace.com/makethelibraryyourspace and working on the new Facebook site, I'm excited to take a look at that Steam site. If you guys have any comments on what we've done so far with the myspace, I'd be glad to hear them!

its me, formally bob kelso. If you want, I could create a steam group for you guys right now, when you guys have profiles, I can send you an invite, or we can make it a public group. This allows us to post events, release announcments and also, get imput in the groups chatroom. I think you should really check this out. Steam does require a quick download and install. The website again is:
