[Ruth] Rosekrans Hoffman was born 7 January 1926, in Denton, Nebraska, the daughter of James Charles and Pearl (Hocking) Rosekrans. She received a B.F.A. at the University of Nebraska in 1949, married Robert Hoffman in 1955, and eventually settled in West Haven, CT. A painter and illustrator, Hoffman’s work has been exhibited at The Whitney Museum and The Brooklyn Museum, in addition to gracing the pages of numerous children’s picture and non-fiction books. Mrs. Hoffman passed away in September, 2007.
