eBooks and Audiobooks

Lincoln City Libraries offers eBooks and Audiobooks from several sources. (Please note: cards that are not used to check out physical items for over a year may be deleted from the system. Using a card only for our online databases, including e-Books, will not keep the card from being deleted.)

Libby and OverDrive

OverDrive's Libby app for smartphones and tablets is the simplest way to access our collection of eBooks and audiobooks.

If you don't have a smartphone or tablet, you can access our OverDrive collection here or use the Web-based version of Libby at libbyapp.com. You can also check here for other OverDrive / Libby options available for computers, e-readers, and other devices for accessing our digital collection.

If you run into problems using our digital collection, please use our Digital Downloads Support Form to report the problem. If you are borrowing Kindle format eBooks, please be aware that because of OverDrive's contractual arrangement with Amazon, we can only provide troubleshooting up to the point where the eBook is checked out; for any problems with the process after that point, you will need to go through Amazon's technical support.

Supplemental Material: Some eBooks and audiobooks have supplemental material available for download. This material may require Adobe Digital Editions software.

Lincoln Public Schools students can check out Lincoln City Libraries’ eBooks and audiobooks using the Sora app. Here’s how!

Important Changes in Libby/OverDrive

Starting April 13, 2026, Lincoln City Libraries will set a new limit of 10 holds on Libby/OverDrive titles. This change helps shorten wait times and gives you access to a wider range of titles. Customers with more than 10 holds will not lose their holds, but they won't be able to place any new holds until they have less than 10.

Starting May 20, 2026, users of older Kindle devices will no longer be able borrow Libby eBooks, because of changes being implemented by Amazon. The affected devices are the 1st and 2nd generation Kindles; Kindle DX and Kindle DX Graphite; Kindle Keyboard; Kindle 4 and 5; Kindle Touch; Kindle Paperwhite (1st generation); Kindle Fire (1st and 2nd generation); and Kindle Fire HD 7 and HD 8.9.
