We know it is easy to get overwhelmed when choosing books your kids will love. Our 4-part series called "Raising Readers: Tips for Choosing Books for Children" can help. These age-related tips will help you navigate the library and will reinforce the importance of reading aloud. And remember, our librarians are always available to help.

Using Library Materials for the Classroom

Teachers are welcome to use Lincoln City Libraries materials in their classrooms, and have the same privileges as other members of the community. Teachers follow the same guidelines for checkout periods and fees. Cardholders may have up to 150 items checked out at a time. Some types of materials have other limits.

Lincoln City Libraries does not limit the number of items on a particular subject that may be checked out. We do ask that you be considerate of others who may be interested in the same topic, leaving a few items for others to use, and returning or renewing materials on time. You can renew materials by calling any branch library and speaking to a staff member, by telephoning the automated renewal system at 402-441-8506, or by logging in to our catalog and renewing the materials yourself. Some teachers have found that it works best to keep all Lincoln City Libraries materials in their classroom, and not to allow their students to take these items home, where they may become difficult to track down.

Classroom Loan Bags

Lincoln City Libraries provides sets of each school year’s Nebraska Golden Sower chapter book nominees. Each set contains approximately 15-25 copies of the same title. We make these bags available on a monthly basis to teachers to use in their classrooms from August through July. As with any book, we recommend that teachers read the book before they use it in their classroom to determine if it is appropriate for their needs. All public, private, and home school teachers with a Lincoln City Libraries card are welcome to use this program. Guidelines and a current listing of available titles is available here.
