Lighthouses and The Light Between Oceans]

Molly Fisher and her husband have spent over 20 summers living and working in lighthouses. She will talk about lighthouses and the role of the lighthouse in this year’s book, The Light Between Oceans by M.L. Stedman. Come and enjoy the presentation and sample some Australian cuisine.

All adults (18 and over please) are invited to participate in the first ever “One Book – One Lincoln Art Exhibit.” The theme of the exhibit this year is LIGHTHOUSES.
A reception and announcement of awards will be held as part of the First Friday Art Walk series on November 7, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m. A short One Book – One Lincoln booktalk will also be held as part of the festivities!

Genealogy Challenges: Tracking Personal History

Join the members of the Lincoln and Lancaster County Genealogical Society for a look at the difficulties of tracking personal history years after the fact. What if Tom and Isabel had kept Lucy and she had only found out the truth many years later — what sources could she have used to track down her real personal history? For genealogy fans and One Book – One Lincoln fans alike!
Australian Experiences and The Light Between Oceans

Pat Dotson Pettit, Nebraska Wesleyan University professor, will talk about her experiences traveling in Australia and relate those experiences to The Light Between Oceans.
In honor of this year’s One Book – One Lincoln selection, Zipline Brewing Company has brewed up a new Australian beer, which will be interesting to compare with the New Zealand beer they already offer. Both beers will be available for purchase at the event. Supported by the Foundation for Lincoln City Libraries.

Enter a drawing for a signed copy of The Light Between Oceans!
Author M.L. Stedman and her publisher have graciously provided us with several signed copies of the paperback edition of her novel. We will be holding drawings to give away these pieces of One Book – One Lincoln memorabilia throughout this year’s One Book – One Lincoln events. Entry forms for this drawing may be filled out if you meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Attend a library-sponsored One Book – One Lincoln program and fill out an entry form to win a signed copy — one book will be given away to a lucky attendee at each of our special programs
- You may enter at each OBOL event you attend (one entry per person per event, and the same person cannot win multiple signed copies)
- One additional signed copy will be given away to a randomly-drawn name from those who fill out our online drawing form (no longer available)
- Library staff are not eligible to win.
- Winners must sign a media release and agree to be photographed; winner’s name will be announced on Facebook, Twitter, the library webpage and in other promotional media.
