Summer Reading promotion at schools
During May, Library staff - and Homer the Saltdog - visited schools to promote the Summer Reading Program
R.A.P. Around the Year at Gere, Mondays June 10 and July 8, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Gere is offering a book group for first-through third-graders and their reading partners. Pre-register (required) at Gere Branch Library or by calling 402-441-8560. The book for the first session will need to be picked up and read prior to the meeting.
Starts May 24! When you register for the 2013 Summer Reading Program, you will receive a book bag and a booklet, so that you can be ready to read, read, read! Each time you visit Lincoln City Libraries or any participating school media center, bring your booklet with you to have it stamped and stickered. Visit a library four times, read for a total of ten hours, and complete ten of the reading-related activities, and you will receive these rewards:

Here's a list of sites in Lancaster County where Summer Reading Program activities are being offered.

Don't forget that we also have Summer Reading Programs for Teens and Adults!

Read to a Dog at the Library!

May 06, 2013 by pjorgensen

Photo of dogs and booksLocal therapy dog organization, Healing Heart Therapy Dogs, provides this wonderful opportunity for children ages 6 to 12 who have experienced reading difficulties or who just need to practice their reading. Therapy teams are partnered with children who polish their skills by reading aloud to a dog. Children read to dogs in 20-minute shifts, once a week for six weeks.
