Lincoln City Libraries and Healing Heart Therapy Dogs, a local therapy dog organization, are providing an opportunity for children ages 6 to 12 who have experienced reading difficulties or who just need to practice their reading. Therapy teams are partnered with children who polish their skills by reading aloud to a dog. Children read to dogs in 20-minute shifts, once a week for four weeks. This spring session will begin the week of Monday, March 23 through Saturday, May 2.
Pre-registration is required; see the contact information below to register.

This book was discussed at the Just Desserts meeting on January 27th, 2011. Whether or not you attended the actual meeting, you are welcome to share your own thoughts and opinions about this book (and series) in a reply comment to this blog post, below.
Join us next on February 24th, 2011, at South Branch Library (6:45 p.m.), as we discuss author Alan Bradley's The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie, the first in a popular new series that's already seen three volumes released. Additional titles for upcoming months' discussions have also been posted to the Book Groups page on the libraries' BookGuide web site.
And, for additional reminders about upcoming Just Desserts meetings, don't forget to sign up for the Just Desserts e-mail list.
