Asian Read-In

May 05, 2009 by Sheila

Join us Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 12:00 at the Asian Community & Cultural Center, 2615 O Street, for an Asian Read-Aloud event. Community members will read excerpts from works by or about individuals of Asian descent or about Asian culture. If you would like to meet people in the community who care about Asian heritage, this is the event for you!

Lincoln City Libraries and the Asian Community and Cultural Center are hosting this event in honor of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month.  The first Japanese immigrants arrived in the U.S. in May 1843. A May celebration of APAH was first proclaimed in 1978 by President Carter and in 1990, President George H.W. Bush expanded the recognition to include entire month of May.

For additional information, contact Sheila Jacobs at 441-8546.
