Cultural activities for January 2009 include the observance of Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday and the start of the Chinese New Year.
Martin Luther King Jr. Day:
is a national holiday honoring the life of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The holiday falls on the third Monday in January. In 2009, the day will be celebrated on January 19th. In recent years, the holiday has also included the King Day of Service, for those who wish to honor Dr. King with service to their community.
