Star Wars Reads DayStar Wars Reads Day

For all ages
Star Wars Reads Day III will be celebrated on October 11 this year and you can participate in it at Walt Library. At 10:30 a.m. there will be a Star Wars Storytime. At 1:30 p.m. children aged 12 and under can test their knowledge in a Star Wars Trivia Contest. At 3:00 p.m. members of the 501st Central Garrison will make a special appearance. Have your picture taken with several members of this Star Wars costumed organization. There will be crafts, activities and lots of Star Wars books to read and check out. Star Wars Reads Day is sponsored worldwide by Disney Publishing Worldwide and its many publishing partners.

Comic book professionals Bob Hall and Nate Hamel will show the audience how to draw Batman. The program at 10:00 a.m. is designed for the elementary age and the program at 11:30 a.m. is designed for all ages. Crafts will be available all afternoon. Photos will be taken with Batman from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.

Join us for seasonal stories about things that go bump in the night! Please feel free to dress up or come as you are, all are welcome.

Players from the Lincoln Stars Hockey Team Will Visit Lincoln City Libraries' Storytime in November
Lincoln City Libraries is partnering with the Lincoln Stars hockey team during the month of November. Players will visit certain preschool storytimes, read aloud to the children, and teach them a little about the game and the equipment.

Lincoln Stars"We are excited by the opportunity given to us by the Lincoln City Libraries for our Stars players to meet and interact with children from the community. Many of these children look up to the players as role models, and we feel it is our obligation to set a good example and encourage reading on a daily basis." Alanna Morse, Head of Business Development, Lincoln Stars.

The schedule is as follows:

Preschool storytime supports early literacy by offering vocabulary development, experiences with a variety of literature, and participation in language-related activities. Pre-registration is not required, and newcomers are always welcome. This program is free and open to the public.
