Local History Center
The new Local History Center now open on the second floor of the Bennett Martin Public Library features materials with a focus on Nebraska history, and Lincoln in particular. Examples of some of the resources available include:
- local newspapers on microfilm, some dating as far back as 1867
- Lincoln City Directories on microfilm, dating as far back as 1873
- access to Lincoln newspapers online through the Lincoln Journal Star Collection, with content going back to 1996
- access to the Omaha World Herald Collection online with content as far back as 1983
- access to digitized school yearbooks from Lincoln Public Schools
- access to genealogical materials through Ancestry Library Edition and MyHeritage
- detailed property and land-use records for Nebraska from 1883 to 1962 through Sanborn Maps
- biographical information about prominent people through the Biography Reference Bank
