Lincoln City Libraries’ Digital Downloads from OverDrive provides a collection of downloadable audiobooks that can be checked out for a period of 7, 14, or 21 days for listening to on a computer or portable audio device. You can have up to 10 downloadable titles (eBooks and audiobooks) checked out at one time.
If you are using a mobile device such as an Android, Galaxy Tab NOOK, NOOK HD, NOOK HD+, Kindle Fire, Kindle Fire HD, iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch, please use one of OverDrive’s free apps:
OverDrive’s Libby app is designed to make borrowing and enjoying eBooks and audiobooks easier. Libby is available for Android, iOS, Windows 10, and some Chromebooks, and is available from Google Play, the Apple App Store, and the Windows Store. Libby is not yet available for the Kindle Fire. More information about Libby is available here. You can also watch this introductory video about Libby:
The older OverDrive App is also still available.
Please search for these free OverDrive apps where you normally get apps for your device, such as Google Play, Windows Phone Marketplace, or the App Store. (The BlackBerry version of the OverDrive App is no longer available.)
If you run into problems, here’s a troubleshooting guide that may help.
Important note about Macintosh computers: MP3 audiobooks are only supported on macOS 10.6 (Snow Leopard) through 10.14 (Mojave). OverDrive’s app is not compatible with macOS Catalina. This means that audiobooks can’t be downloaded to a Mac computer running Catalina (or later) for transfer to an MP3 player. OverDrive recommends listening to audiobooks in a web browser or in Libby.
If you have a Windows-formatted iPod, please look over this information first. Also, please be aware that transferring these audiobooks to an iPod will probably be slow because of the conversion process required by the iPod.
If you have an iPod Touch, please see these instructions for iOS (Apple) Mobile Devices. For information about other portable devices, please check this information about compatibility with OverDrive.
If you have e-reserves and have changed your e-mail address, you will need to update the e-mail address associated with each of your e-reserves to be sure you receive notification when the books become available. Please follow these steps:
