The Pulitzer Prizes were established in 1917 by Joseph Pulitzer, founder of the Columbia University School of Journalism, and are awarded annually, though not necessarily in every category, by the trustees of Columbia University. In addition to the well-known Pulitzer prizes in various journalism categories, Pulitzer Prizes for “Letters, Drama and Music” are also given annually to United States authors for works dealing with American life and Americans’ lives. The categories of Novel/Fiction, History, Biography/Autobiography and Drama began in 1917, Poetry was added in 1922, and General Non-Fiction (Gen-NF in our list) was added in 1962.
For more information on the Pulitzer Prizes or Joseph Pulitzer, see those subject headings in the library’s online catalog, talk to the Reference staff, or connect to the official Pulitzer Web site. The titles in this list are “hotlinked” to the library’s catalog, for all those titles currently owned by the Lincoln City Libraries. For titles not currently owned by our system, please consider requesting them through our Interlibrary Loan service.
