Lincoln City Libraries Awarded Grant For Technology Basics Classes

Lincoln City Libraries (LCL) today announced it has received a $10,000 grant from the Public Library Association (PLA) to increase digital literacy using Digitallearn.org resources. Free 90-minute workshops on computer and technology basics will cover topics such as getting started with computers, the internet, email, understanding cybersecurity, videoconferencing, and mobile device basics.

Wyatt Packard, Walt Branch Library Manager, said the classes are for anyone who is looking to get started with computers or to grow their digital skills.

“These hands-on classes are perfect for those who have had fewer opportunities to work with technology, including older adults and New Americans, and staff will be available to provide support throughout each class,” Packard said.

Attendees will be awarded a certificate of completion. The courses will be in March and April at Gere Branch Library, 2400 South 56th St., and Eiseley Branch Library, 1530 Superior St. Registration is encouraged by calling Lincoln City Libraries at 402-441-8500.
