Looking Back, Moving Forward

A Year in Review

This past year at Lincoln City Libraries (LCL) has been one of growth, connection, and innovation. Our 2023-2024 Annual Report highlights the ways we’ve served the community, expanded access and planned for the future.

From record-breaking circulation and attendance numbers to new community initiatives, here’s a glimpse at the progress we’ve made together:

More Visitors, More Engagement
Library visits, program attendance, and digital checkouts all saw impressive increases. The new Williams Branch Library became a community hub, experiencing a 129% jump in visits since its grand opening.

Expanding Access & Outreach
LCL continued its Library OneCard program, providing 42,000+ Lincoln Public Schools students with library access. Meanwhile, innovative programs like Around Town & Splish Splash Storytimes and Circle of Friends ensured more people than ever found a welcoming place at the library.

A Community of Readers
This year’s One Book One Lincoln winner, "The Berry Pickers" by Amanda Peters, drew an enthusiastic audience, with 175 attendees gathering to hear the author speak.

Shaping the Libraries of Tomorrow
With input from hundreds of community members, the Future Libraries initiative mapped out improvements for facilities across Lincoln. Our new strategic plan focuses on four key priorities: Maximizing Access, Communicating Offerings, Growing Support and Strengthening Potential.

More Than Books
From the Local History Resource Hub to the thriving Gere Community Garden, LCL continues to be a center for learning, creativity, and community engagement.
