Everyone wins when they read in the summer. Studies show that children and teens who read for fun and information during the summer go back to school in the fall more prepared to learn. Adults can move along in their lifelong learning journey, or just catch up on their leisure reading. All ages are rewarded for being part of the Summer Reading Challenge. Here are answers to some frequently asked questions about the Summer Reading Challenge.

This year you can register and start logging Thursday, May 26. In addition to registration prizes, people who sign up before June 1 will be entered into a drawing for $100 gift cards from Super Saver, Target, Walmart, Russ’s and Hy-Vee.
Every person who registers will receive a registration prize. Adults will receive a book bag, and children and teens can choose among several registration prizes. Everyone who registers will also receive a free ticket to a Saltdogs game Friday, June 10 at 7:00 p.m.

To complete the challenge, each participant needs to read for ten hours and complete eight activities by July 31.
You can register, log, and complete the entire challenge online but there will be a printed booklet for people who want to keep track of their progress and get stickers.
The Beanstack Tracker app is the easiest way to keep track of your progress in the challenge. Download it in the App Store or Google Play.
Children, teens and adults will each earn coupons for free and reduced food and fun. See the FAQ for a complete list of coupons for each age group.

Pool Passes! This year instead of two pool parties, everyone who completes the challenge will get a coupon good at any Lincoln public pool, good August 1 through August 14.
Children’s Coupon: Good for one child and one adult entry into any public pool between August 1 and August 14, 2022.
Teen Coupon: Good for one teen and one adult entry into any public pool between August 1 and August 14, 2022.
Adult coupon: Good for one adult entry into any public pool between August 1 and August 14, 2022.
Any additional patrons will pay the regular gate fee.

Library Learning Times! We offer Library Learning Times for babies, toddlers, preschool-age children and families. Find the full schedule here.
Around Town Storytimes! This summer we will be offering Library Learning Times in fun locations across the city. These are free and don’t require registration.
Join us at different parks and places in the Lincoln area for storytime, featuring stories, movement, music and more. Around Town Storytime is geared toward children under age five but all ages are welcome. All sessions are 30 minutes except for Yoga in the Park which is 45 minutes. Look for the library feather flag.
