In the meantime, we’re curious to hear — how many of the top 12 finalists have you read this summer?

Did you have any favorites, or least favorites? Why?

Remainder of Top 12 announced (2009)!

One Book - One LincolnHello to all the One Book One Lincoln fans following our One Book Blog!

Preview discussions have been held at three area bookstores, where members of the One Book committee have discussed the process by which the hundreds of public One Book recommendations were whittled down to the Top 12 choices.

The top 5 Finalists were previously announced, both in the newspaper and through the libraries. However, there’s been enough interest expressed in the remainder of the Top 12 that the other seven titles are now being shared. You can find them on our 2009 One Book Finalists page, hotlinked into our catalog. Just click through on that link.

Enjoy…and keep reading all of the finalists. The winner will be announced on August 31st.

Counting down to August 31st

One Book - One LincolnFor everyone who’s been sampling the five finalists for the 2009 One Book One Lincoln — the winning title (of those five) will be announced on August 31st, at which time you’ll find web pages here on the library’s site dedicated to that book and the related programming we’ve got planned.

In the meantime, we’d love to hear from you regarding your thoughts on the five finalists. Which have you read so far? Which did you enjoy the most? Were there any you didn’t care for? Come share your thoughts in a response to this posting below!

The 2009 One Book One Lincoln finalists are announced

One Book - One LincolnGreetings to everyone on the One Book — One Lincoln e-mail list!

The five finalists for this year’s One Book community reading project were announced this morning in the Lincoln Journal Star newspaper and on the libraries’ web site. Click this link to jump to the page describing the five titles [currently not functional]. From among these five, the one book that will be used as the actual One Book — One Lincoln selection (upon which special programs and book discussions will be built) will be announced later this Fall.

Extra copies of all of the titles, including Book-on-CD editions, have been added to the collection to meet the demand. You’ll also find Book Club in a Bag copies, so if you’re part of a Book Discussion Group, you can get these titles in sets of 10 for group discussions.

In addition to this blog, where questions and discussion topics related to the five finalists will be posted regularly throughout the summer…(help us get some back-and-forth discussions going early!)…you can also sign up for the One Book — One Lincoln e-mail list for regular updates as well.  Also, if you’re on the social networking site Facebook, you can become a fan of the One Book — One Lincoln Facebook group, too!
